The first step to ensuring that the digital piano can be connected to the personal computer is to make sure that the digital piano has either MIDI ports or USB ports. After that, the digital piano must be connected to the corresponding cable to connect with the personal computer.
If the digital piano has a USB port, it is necessary to use USB A to USB B cable. If the digital piano has MIDI ports, it is required to use MIDI to USB cables.
It is advised to check the backside of the digital piano for the port labelling of USB to host or USB or MIDI Out and MIDI In to avoid confusions. Apple devices like iPhone, iPod, etc are super easy to connect with your digital piano. If you're using an Yamaha Digital Piano, you can simply download their Digital Piano Controller app to connect it.
In the case of the fourth generation of iOS devices like iPad, etc., Apple provides lightning connectors. The lightning connectors have cables which can be used to connect all USB devices. This makes it much easier in connecting the digital piano.
The adaptors are also available in the market which has the lightning connector in one end and the thirty-pin jack on the other end. This makes sure that any iOS devices can be connected to the digital piano.
After these steps, the digital piano gets connected to the iOS device automatically. There is no need to install any special software to use digital pianos. The digital piano can be plugged, and it will be ready to play with the iOS device.

Most of the smartphones and tablets are equipped with a micro USB port or type C USB port, it is necessary to use an adapter cable to connect the digital piano to the android devices.
